Anuradhapura in Sr Lanka

The kingdom of Anuradhapura founded by King Pandukabhaya in 377 BC was the first kingdom to be established in ancient Sri Lanka. The city an UNESCO listed World Heritage site, situated in the North Central Province of the country is home to several monuments of historical importance such as the largest Dagoba (a massive dome containing enshrined relics), the Sri Maha Bodhi (A tree grown from a branch of the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya), the finely carved Samadhi Buddha statue and the Kuttam Pokuna (twin ponds) amongst many others.
