Bundala National Park

Bundala is a birder’s paradise as it is an important destination for migratory birds during the winter season. It was originally designated a wildlife sanctuary and later due to its importance was declared as a National Park. In 2005 it has also been designated as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. It is believed that over 100 species of water birds, and 197 species of land birds, 32 species of fish, 15 species of amphibians, 48 species of reptiles, 32 species of mammals inhabit the Park.
